Marko Hrubyj-Piper

Marko Hrubyj-Piper is a Sydney based artist who depicts sunny coastal scenes within the Eastern suburbs of Sydney. Hrubyj-Piper looks to create impactful imagery by focusing on movement, moments of spontaneity, colour and shape to express human behaviour. In his expressive, figurative paintings, he explores stages of realism, whilst touching on moments of surrealism. Marko works amongst these liminal boundaries to bring colourful imagery and simplistic joy to his audience. For Marko, Surreal, expressive, impressionistic, small beautiful moments can all be seen and felt in normal moments of life. To capture these little bits of beauty in a simple aesthetically, pleasing way is crucial in making simple but evocative art. In his new series of work, Marko has looked to the area he grew up in, the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, Australia. Full of windy roads and high cliffs that shelter amazing beaches with their own personality. Marko looks to capture people and their surroundings to find meaning and vibrancy and translate that into paintings.
