Jacob Spokes
Sydney based artist Jacob Spokes is a contemporary landscape painter primarily working with oil medium. Spokes’ practice is a process-driven exploration of the relationship between built and organic spaces, representing landscapes that are realised through a conversation between form and colour. Since completing a Diploma of Fine Art a St George School of Fine Art in 2014, Spokes has gone on to exhibited across Australia, being awarded Highly Commended in the Elioth Gruner Landscape Prize (AGNSW) 2015 and finalist Lloyd Rees Memorial Art Prize in 2021. His work is a celebration of both process and chance. Spokes is drawn specifically to the Australia landscape, presenting its multifaceted state. Through the use of gesture and colour, Spokes is able to convey the ‘feeling’ of a place.
